- Global Final of the Huawei ICT Competition

Team Kenya Cloud Team 1 made the nation proud at the Huawei ICT Competition 2024–2025 Global Final in Shenzen - China, securing the second prize in the Cloud Track and receiving the distinguished Women in Tech Award.
The award-winning team featured three outstanding students: Beverlyne Khayeshe Ndombi and Ifrah Hussein, both fifth-year Electrical and Telecommunications Engineering students from Moi University, and Banzy Wamuyu from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). The team brought together a powerful blend of technical expertise, with Beverlyne serving as the AI Lead, Ifrah as the Cloud Lead, and Banzy as the Big Data Lead.
This year’s competition saw a record-breaking 210,000+ participants from over 2,000 institutions across more than 100 countries. Only 179 teams advanced to the Global Final, making Team Kenya’s achievement all the more remarkable.
Team Kenya was also one of just four all-female teams globally to be recognized with the Women in Tech Award, a testament to their innovation, leadership, and the growing role of women in STEM fields.
Their success highlights not only the technical talent emerging from Kenya's universities but also the importance of empowering young women in technology on the global stage.
